Two-factor authentication (2FA) is a widely used security method that introduces an additional verification step into the login process to help prevent account hacking attempts. As a company concerned with your online privacy and security, we highly recommend using 2FA to keep your Incogni account safe.
How to enable 2FA on your Incogni account
Incogni allows you to set up 2FA on your account via an authenticator application.
NOTE: We'll be using Google Authenticator as example here as it's most widely used, but we recommend Raivo OTP.
-
Log into your Incogni account:
-
Once logged in, click your email address in the upper-right corner on desktop, or tap the profile icon on mobile:
-
Select "Profile":
-
Select the “Two-factor authentication” tab in the menu on the left:
-
Click "Enable 2FA":
-
Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or manually enter the provided setup key:
-
In this guide, we'll showcase the example of using the Google Authenticator app, but the steps should be similar or almost identical to other authenticator apps.
In-app, select the Add or + icon:
-
Select your preferred method – Scan a QR code or Enter a setup key:
Once done, a new authentication profile named incogni.com will appear automatically. -
Click "Next":
-
You'll be prompted to enter the 6-digit code you see in your authentication app. Enter it and click "Next":
-
Save your recovery codes. You'll need them to log in if you lose access to your authenticator. Store them in multiple secure locations (e.g., download them, use cloud storage):
NOTE: Each code is for one-time use only.
-
Once you've saved your 2FA recovery codes, click "Done":
- That's it. Now, each time you wish to log into your Incogni account, you'll have to enter a code generated in your authenticator application.
In case you have lost access to your 2FA and your recovery codes or you’re facing some other issues, feel free to contact our support team. We'll get back to you within 24 hours.
