Yes, you can. You'll just need a smartphone with an authenticator app installed (more about authenticator apps below).
Follow these steps to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Incogni account:
- Log in to your Incogni account.
- Click the profile icon in the top-right corner and select “profile.”
- Select “two-factor authentication” from the menu on the left-hand side.
- Click “enable 2FA.”
You'll need an authenticator app installed on your smartphone (Android or iOS) to continue. We recommend Aegis Authenticator for Android and Raivo OTP for iOS devices. Both are free and open-source. Google Authenticator and Authy are also popular choices, but both are proprietary. - Use your authenticator app to scan the QR code, or enter the alphanumeric code you see on the screen.
- Click “next.”
- Your authenticator app will return a 6-digit code. Enter it, and click “next.”
- Your 2FA is now enabled. You’ll see a list with recovery codes.
- Make sure to copy or save them. They'll allow you to log in if you lose access to your smartphone.
- Click “done.”
- You’ll be taken back to profile.
How to find and enter your 2FA code when prompted
When asked for your Incogni 2FA code, simply:
- Open your chosen authenticator app and find the code marked "Incogni."
- Type this code in on your Incogni login screen and hit "enter" before the timer runs out on your authenticator app.
A new 2FA code will appear in your app once the timer runs out. If that happens before you've finished typing it out, just switch to typing in the new code.
If you lose access to your phone or run into problems with your authenticator app, you can use the recovery codes you noted down in Step 9, above, to regain access to your Incogni account.
