This guide explains how to use advanced search techniques to find websites where your personal information may be exposed and submit those links for Custom Removals.
NOTE: The link you submit must go directly to the page where your personal information appears — not to a search results page or a website homepage. Otherwise, Incogni won’t be able to locate and remove your data.
Find exposed personal information using advanced search
If a simple Google search doesn’t give you the results you’re looking for—like when there are a lot of people with the same name—you can try using some more advanced search options.
Use quotation marks for exact matches
If you’re getting too many unrelated results, try putting your search terms in quotation marks (“ ”). This tells Google to find only pages with that exact phrase.
Example: “John A. Doe”
Use OR to search for alternatives
Use the OR operator to search for multiple details at once—like your full name, nicknames, or other variations—instead of searching for each one individually.
Example: “John A. Doe” OR “John Doe” OR “johndoe123” OR “johndoe@gmail.com” OR “555-123-4567” OR “(555) 123-4567” OR “+1 555 123 4567”
Use site: and -site: to target or exclude websites
To narrow your results, use the site: operator to search within a specific website, or the minus operator -site: to exclude one. This technique is particularly useful for targeting people search sites.
Example: “John A. Doe” OR “John Doe” site:whitepages.com -site:facebook.com
Use related: to look for similar sites
Since it's hard to find every site with your data, the related: operator can help by finding websites similar to a specific one you provide.
Example: (“John A. Doe” OR “johndoe@gmail.com”) (site:whitepages.com OR site:spokeo.com OR site:beenverified.com OR related:whitepages.com)
