If you’ve changed your name, use different spellings, or have a last name made up of multiple words, Incogni can help remove those variations from data brokers. However, there are a few important rules to keep in mind.
Removing several first names
If you changed your name in the past or if your name has different spellings, you can still remove the different versions with Incogni. However, you can’t remove multiple names at the same time.
Why is this limitation in place?
If we allowed subscribers to enter multiple names at the same time, one person could share their individual subscription with others, and that would violate our terms of service.
How to remove past names and different spellings of your name:
- Enter one of your names in your profile.
- We’ll send data removal requests with this name and wait for data brokers to provide confirmations that your data has been removed. This can take around 3 months on average.
- After around 3 months, update your Incogni profile with a different name or spelling. We will then ask data brokers to remove the new name provided.
The 3-month waiting period is recommended to ensure the first round of removals is complete before starting the next round. Learn more about how to change your name in the Incogni profile.
Removing multi‑word or spelling‑variant last names
If your last name contains multiple words or hyphens, you can enter the entire last name in the "Last name" field in your Incogni account.
To improve accuracy, make sure your last name is entered exactly as it appears on your government‑issued ID, including:
- Spaces (for example, Garcia Lopez)
- Hyphens (for example, Garcia‑Lopez)
This helps Incogni match your information more effectively with data brokers’ records and ensures the best removal results.
