Data removal timelines vary from one data broker to another. This article explains what affects how long removals take, why the process is ongoing, and how you can track the status and history of removal requests Incogni sends on your behalf.
How long does data removal usually take
Some data brokers respond to removal requests within a day, while others take longer. Processing times vary depending on the broker’s policies and internal systems.
Data brokers are required to comply with privacy laws such as The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), and The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). If you are covered by these regulations, the standard timeframes are:
- GDPR: Data brokers generally have 30 days to comply with a removal request.
- CCPA: Data brokers generally have 45 days to process a deletion request.
However, some brokers don’t always remove data within the required timeframes. When this happens, Incogni follows up to resolve delays, which can extend the overall removal process.
Why data removal is an ongoing process
Data removal doesn’t end after your information is deleted once.
Many data brokers regularly re-list personal information, even after it has already been removed. That’s why Incogni continuously monitors and follows up with brokers to ensure your data stays off their databases.
How to view removal requests and resolution times for a data broker
You can review all removal requests Incogni has sent to a specific data broker, along with the average resolution time for that broker:

Log in to your Incogni account and click "Broker overview" tab in the top menu bar:

Locate the specific data broker and click the dropdown arrow (▼) next to the broker's name:

There, you can see the average resolution time for that data broker:

You can also select "See all requests" to view the full request history:
